HPS is delighted to announce that Capitol Hill healthcare veteran Gayle Gerdes is joining our team as our newest health policy analyst. We believe Gayle will continue our nearly two decades long tradition of focused policy expertise and personal attention to client needs.
Gayle has worked for the Concord Coalition, first as Western Regional Director and more recently as a consultant. The Concord Coalition works to advance an understanding of the nation's fiscal challenges, as well as forge bipartisan efforts to effectively address those issues. Earlier in her career, Gayle worked for Senator Timothy Hutchinson (R-AR) and Congressman Christopher John (D-LA) handling health care matters ranging from Medicare Part D to HIPAA.
Importantly, Gayle also spent four years on the board of a rural New Mexico hospital, where she approved credentialing for medical staff, enforced cost-conscious budgeting for both short-term and long-term planning, oversaw quality of care and other operational issues and, in general, represented and actively pursued the healthcare needs of her community to promote and preserve access to high-quality healthcare.
This varied background gives her a deep understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory processes, as well as the fiscal constraints in which our nation’s policy debate plays out impacting all healthcare sectors.
Gayle succeeds Matt DoBias, who recently left HPS to pursue another career opportunity in external communications. We’re grateful to him for his good works, and wish him all the best.
